End of season, fresh start

The end of the season brought disappointment, with three losses against English teams; Durham, Sheffield and Loughborough. This means we will remain in the Scottish league, perhaps a relief to those wanting to avoid hours and hours on coaches, maybe not for those who want to gain a name for the uni.

The AGM last night left us with the following

President: Valentino Gomez

Vice-President: Jonny Davis

Treasurer: Scott Clayson

Secretary/Social Secretary: Jack Rau

Kit designer: Nathan Ahmad

Web designer: Jonny Davis

Captain: Jonny Davis

Vice-Captain: Mike Carley

Resident DJ/bro-co-ordinator: Daniyal Ahmad

We have several players leaving us this year, such as Noel (e.g. creepiest player on campus), Chris Dawson and Devin Oliver among others. Hopefully we can build on our success this year without their loss, and gain more players the coming season.

UoE vs Durham

So we lost 27-2 against the best team in the UK. We put up a good fight throughout the game despite the odds, and I think we did Edinburgh proud. Photos to follow soon, next games will be against Loughborough and Sheffield in the playoffs

#1 in the Scottish University League

Despite losing to the University of Stirling (suffering without our goalkeeper for the first half), Edinburgh have managed to maintain their spot at the top of the table, and now look towards the BUCS cup ties, where far more challenging competition will be offered from English sides. We’re hoping to get a friendly game against Edinburgh City lacrosse team to find out any flaws in our game soon. To keep updated with progress, keep checking the website.

Finalised helmet design

The official and final helmet colour scheme for the University of Edinburgh men’s lacrosse team. Get in touch with Mike Carley for orders by the end of the week. We’ll be looking into decals on the side, either numbers or UoE/UE somehow.

Goal scorers so far this season

1. Bertuna, 15

2. Davis, 14

3. Carley, 10.

With the first half of the season finished, Edinburgh’s university side can look back on their success and prepare for the challenges they will face in the new year. Their undefeated streak achieved in the Scottish BUCS league leaves the team most likely heading south of the border in an attempt to break into England’s university league. Unfortunately, the end of the first semester sees us lose several players who have graced Peffermill playing fields, such as the unashamedly good looking Roger Huddle, and also Chip Stine and Alex Douglas. Hopefully the coming semester will see some more state side players join the team in aiding the sides bid for further success.

EUMLC will be trying to get a few new CPro7 helmets in, for anyone willing to pay for them, over the Christmas period. Here’s the provisional look. We plan on getting UoE decals on the side too. We’ll be looking at costs soon.

UoE Helmet

Tuesday 19.10.10 we have training at Peffermill at 20.15, then Wednesday there’s a game away against Stirling. Noel is trying to arrange the bus for around 2.30, more details to come.

Valentino is working on getting EUMLC some more clothes to have by December. I’d recommend everyone buying shorts just to have the whole kit look we haven’t managed to achieve yet, beyond that get what you want. Click to see the full image.

Tomorrow, Sunday 02.10.10, we will be playing at Peffermill against Edinburgh City at 14.00. Warming up from around 13.30. Come down for what should be a good game.
